  • SEER ( More about this ) - Database from the National Cancer Institite that provides data on incidence and mortality of cancer across the United States since 1973. SEER stands for "surveillance, epidemiology and end results." The data must be requested from the NCI along with SEER*Stat software provided for analysis of the data, though the requests are very easy. The NCI statistics page (http://www.cancer.gov/statistics/tools) also allows the user to download other programs to analyze the data. Users can also use their own statistical software. The data are primarily intended for use in research.
